Side f/x was formed in 1989 from some former members of the"Grunt" band, as a cover band to play parties and
nightclubs in the Hudson Valley/Catskill region of New York State. With their flair for the "old time rock and roll", and
dynamic stage presence, they soon became one of the more popular bands in the area.
Shortly after the bands inception, Steve Tanczyn (drums) was asked on a national tour with blues great Bobby Kyle, opening for B.B. King. Reluctently, Steve moved on. As luck would have it Larry knew a drummer from his old band (Shooter), and so.. Charlie Perez joined
Side f/x in early 1990, and has remained the backbeat of the band ever since. In the spring of 1992, Larry announced to the band members he would be moving on, and so Jason Greenberg (Dan's son) was asked to join as bass guitarist. Under the patient tuteledge of Glenn, Jason came into his own, as an expert bassman.

November of 1994 was a sad month in the lives of Side f/x members. We received word that Karen Riker-Scmidt, wife of Glenn, and
co-founder of Side f/x, was terminaly ill. With heavy heart, Glenn announced he was leaving the band, (Side f/x), to care for Karen. Jason also gave us the news he would be leaving, as he was contemplating a move to the state of Florida.
There was a band in the area called "Bad timing", that played quite
a few of the same venues as Side f/x. Chuck and Dan heard through
the grapevine they were dissolving. So they asked Tim Chanowitz, bass
guitar, and Joe (Moe) Orrio, to join Side f/x. Well.... the blend was
even better then Dan and Chaz had hoped. Larry soon rejoined, this time on
Rhythm Guitar. September of 2000 Tim descided to leave the band to spend
more time with his family, Larry knew of a multi-talented bass player (Al Patalona)!
That being done Larry, as he had done once before in 1991 decided once to
leave Side F/X, as luck would have it Quaz became available to rejoin the
band that he and Dan and originally started in 1989 **Life Turns Full Circle**
And to this day, Side f/x remains a cover band with the reputation of doing good rock and roll with great five-part harmony.

Al has decided to semi-retire for the present to spend more time with his children. A true family man, he will surely be missed. Look for Al to do Guest appearances from time to time. Enter Dan Reiter, a member of the same musical community as Dan, Chaz and Moe for 30 years. Could Side F/X be the "Spinal Tap" for Bass players? Stay tuned to find out.........
